“Spence” is a multimedia mover and shaker who has worked in every medium of communication. She is a published writer in magazines, newspapers and has contributed to radio programming. She has worked as an Associate Producer for films. She is a content and marketing strategist, creative thinker, and brand builder with over a decade of success in designing high-quality marketing collateral under any budget.
She has served as an editor, proofreader, and panel judge for literary competitions. Beginning her career at the United Nations in 2007, she criss-crossed the globe and lived out her passion for bringing access of information to remote communities. Notably, South Sudan where she worked for 3 years and met Ariane while they worked together for the Food and Agriculture Organisation(FAO) of the UN on emergency relief efforts. Spence has a degree in Communications and Media Relation from Fordham University in New York City. She is currently the Regional Manager for a national nonprofit in the Hawai’i, USA where she is based with her rescue dog the Queen of Sheeba.
Fundraising and Grant Management Specialist
Viola is a fundraising and grant management professional with five years experience working in Kenya, Somalia and in South Sudan. She has vast experience in donor negotiation, donor intelligence gathering, and in developing attractive and solution-oriented project proposals within the fields of emergency and development programming. She is a gender and protection mainstreaming guru having undertaken trainings with donors such as UN Women, ECHO and USAID on social inclusion. She has worked extensively with INGOs, local NGOs, and multilateral donors in business development and grants management. She has an undergraduate degree in Disaster Management and International Diplomacy form Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, and is currently undertaking a Masters’ degree in International Relations specializing in Diplomacy and Foreign Policy in United States International University- Africa. She encourages not-for-profit organizations to adopt a business model that looks at the nature of the organization, the gap the organization aims to address and works with them to establish their organization’s add value in addressing the gap in a consultative, collaborative, and integrated way.
